FAQ

1. What is a CLNC?

A certified legal nurse consultant is an RN with advanced training in legal nurse consulting.

A CLNC can use their knowledge and understanding of nursing, medical, and health-related cases to cause ease, efficiency, and effectiveness.

2. What is the difference between a paralegal and a certified legal nurse consultant?

A paralegal can only research and address legal issues in your medical-related case(s). A certified legal nurse consultant can define standards of care and has “behind the scenes” knowledge and experience in medical facilities. Your paralegal could then be more accessible for only the legal issues on your cases.

3. I’m already using a doctor. Why do I need a nurse?

Most doctors are not familiar with current nursing standards. It is more cost-effective in having a nurse locate consulting and expert witnesses in comparison to a doctor.

4. What types of cases can a certified legal nurse provide services on?

A CLNC can consult on:
• Medical and Nursing malpractice
• Products Liability
• Toxic Tort’s
• Environmental Cases
• Workmen’s Compensation (work-related injuries)
• General Negligence
• Criminal
• Any other case where illness, health, and injury is an issue.

5. What type of expert will I need?

We’ll assist you in determining whether you’ll need a consulting or testifying expert and will help you locate the appropriate expert.
